Politics In Competitions

Miss Photgenic Compettion finally over! Congratulation to Audrey won the Miss Personality Title. First off, I have something to say, I could not get out of my mind an image what is the proper role of this competition? The competition is particularly relevant to the agencies to bring their own activities to the public's attention and to secure public support. After thinking about this image, I have concluded that for competition and politics. My word would be : Be a pro competition agency, think about what is the proper role of a competition agency do, and keep politics out of your competition, but get competition into your politics. Maybe we should consider environmental aspects, consider cultural values in making competition decisions.

Things Crazy Busy Here…

I’m back for blog posts. So in short, I was crazy busy starting right after I got back from Oriental Dance Workshop, Oriental Dance Teacher Training with Hadia. She make us realized how the muscle groups work to produce the movements, particularly in alignment and how we do our technique that we can avoid to injure ourselves in some pretty major areas like lower back, hip, knees. Hadia worked us much harder to correct our techniques – especially we are all dancing to the ‘Down’ and not to the ‘Up’ in American Belly Dance Style all the time. . I was struck by her technique!

My Belly Dance Goals..

My dance life has been a bit crazy lately, which doesn't leave me with much room for blogging thoughts.
Here's what I'm thinking, I want to change my Saturday morning class to Mon/Wed evening. (Adult & The Kids classes) The adult are all ‘OK’ and agreed to change, but the kids might have evening activities, most of them are not available in the evening class. Don’t get me wrong if I stop teaching on Saturday class, I want more time prepare for the work week ahead. I have a lot more free time on my hands. Well, maybe it is not a LOT, but definitely more! So I can put many of my dance goals and re-focus my energy on dance. Another thing is I have to start getting ready for the annual student showcase - creating more advance choreograph. I want to attend more workshops, but I know my budget and time restraints will be an issue, so I'd be happy with one every two months.

Annivesary Teaching Party

After writing more and more blog posts, I have to say how much I've enjoyed blogging, how the blog enriched my new life. Thanks so much to my fans, my students, my commentators, and yes, my inspiration belly dancers.
Last week, the studio put on the party celebrates its annivesary of my teaching in their studio together with belly dance students. I never plan to do a show or dance, I never dress up my dance costume I just want to sit down and eat or just do nothing!
The kids brought their costume and they dance, I put up the music for our class routine and invited some students to do dance, how amazing they were on the stage. ... Everyone cross their fingers for them! In the mean time, enjoy this picture of them at the very beginning of dance, hehe……

Rhythm & Music Interpretation

I know many of you have been asking me about this.... so the special announcement today is that, take your dance to a whole new level- how to bring the music to life with your dance!

Why I'm Happy To A Beginner Class

I've been belly dancing for almost 5 years, but in truth, I'm still concentrating on my posture and technique.
We drills hard last night in class. For example, the regular hip drop – Of course I know how to do a hip drop. If the hip drop on the right leg, all of weight is on our left leg, left leg is supporting and knee should be soft, not bend and right foot is up on the toe with the knee bent, Obviously, I saw my students obvious bend with their supporting leg, and same to the simple step - step and touch, too much bend.

I have a bad habit I want to correct my hip drop. I want to drop it with my oblique not with my foot, I am driving it so hard with my right toe held up off the floor with my left leg is basically straight. I am fine with the drop but the bend still there, although it's not a huge obvious bend, but it's there! So that part I know I'm doing wrong, but the standing pose is not quite what I want it to be. Of course this is not for the beginner hip drop.
Anyway, I know it’s take time to practice and It’s hard! I am taking Hadia's Teacher Training, that is a lot of excellent information and the shimmy fest real fun. I am her newbies class starting over with everyone, so I can be a much, much better dancer
